Job Description:

Neustar’s security engineering team is looking for a Senior Penetration Test Engineer who will be part of a team of information security engineers with the shared responsibility of providing expertise in penetration testing and web application vulnerability management covering Neustar’s corporate infrastructure and applications in production environments. The scope of this role includes performing the full cycle of penetration testing engagements from scoping, thorough threat modeling, information gathering, discovery, vulnerability assessment, active testing, pivoting and reporting.

As a key member of this team, you will be working closely with other teams providing deep security expertise and insight to correctly identify and reflect any security risks and vulnerabilities while testing their application environments and working with them on remediation strategies.

In order to be successful in this role, it is required that you have at least 3+ years of experience with web application penetration testing and remediation as well as strong communication and customer service skills.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Execute and coordinate penetration tests, compliance scanning, and red team exercises.
  • Perform automated analysis of web application vulnerabilities using tools such as Nexpose and Metasploit.
  • Manage test and remediation activities for key Neustar customers and external auditors.
  • Notify and publish information on relevant application security threats.
  • Maintain documentation, establish and manage remediation, maintain audit readiness and provide artifacts for internal and external audit and compliance programs as required.
  • Deliver prompt, courteous, and professional service at all times in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge and Expertise

The Sr. Penetration Test Engineer should possess the following skills:

  • Expertise in web application testing using commercially available tools.
  • Expertise with manual testing and validation of security vulnerabilities.
  • Ability to perform source code analysis.
  • Industry recognized security certifications relevant to the role (GIAC, OSCP, CEH).
  • Coordination and management of penetration and remediation activities.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks concurrently, in a highly dynamic environment.
  • Collaborative work ethic with a strong drive to learn and share knowledge.
  • Highly organized with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of various industry frameworks including:
    • ISO27000, ISO9000, ISO31000 family
    • COBIT, ITIL
    • NIST, PCI-DSS, SSAE SOC2 Type1&2, SOX
  • Ability to work independently (self-motivated).
  • BS Degree in relevant field
  • 6+ years of related experience
